With the cooler weather, there is nothing like a winter warmer pie. At Aussie Adventures Child Care & Kindergarten, we love to make our own pies. Here is our quick recipe:
Ingredients
1 pack of double-crust pie pastry
¾ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 cups of thinly sliced apples
1 tablespoon of butter
Here’s how:
- Preheat the oven to 230°C
- Line a 9-inch pie dish with one pastry crust; set second one aside.
- Combine 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, more sugar can be added if the apples are tart
- Layer apple slices in the prepared pie dish, sprinkling each layer with cinnamon-sugar mixture
- Dot top layer with small pieces of butter. Cover with top crust
- Bake pie on the lowest rack of the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 175°C and bake until golden brown and filling bubbles, approximately 30 to 35 minutes
- Custard, cream or ice-cream to serve
