The little things you do at home every day can help build confidence, independence and the skills children need to settle into school. Learning through play, helping around the house and spending time together can all support your child’s school readiness journey.
✏️ Read books together and ask questions about the story.
✏️ Encourage your child to recognise and write their name.
✏️ Practise counting during everyday activities like cooking or packing away toys.
✏️ Let your child put on their own shoes, open their lunchbox and pack their bag.
✏️ Draw, colour, cut and play with playdough to strengthen little hands for writing.
✏️ Play games that involve listening, taking turns and following instructions.
✏️ Encourage your child to talk about their feelings and make simple choices on their own.
